Treasure Hunt - Shropshire July 2008
Jul 16, 2008 - 8:26 PM - by Satancom
Friday

Well I travelled up to the campsite on Friday afternoon along with Agerty and my mates Ash + Amy in their 90. We arrived around 18:30 and there were quite a few people already pitched up settling in, however team Kipling did it best by having a little tea party under their awning..

After a quick can it was off to the pub to pay for the pitch and grab a bite to eat, along with a few more pints. Beer was well priced, the food was very good but expensive, which was a shame. In the Pub we met Geri the Site owner who took our pitch money and had thoughtfully set up a small marquee for shelter from the rain and somewhere for Rob to put the maps up in the morning.

The majority of people ate in the pub on the Friday and then retired to the marquee for a few more beers and swapped stories of all sorts of things, including the origin of Swingletrees user name, I am enlightened.

It was a reasonably early night for most... [Read More]

Treasure Hunt - Rhayader 2008
Apr 25, 2008 - 9:39 PM - by Satancom
Friday

Guy woke up and stuck his head out of the tent to be greeted by a blanket of snow, mm lovely. Slowly but surely people started arriving. I turned up around 3pm with Sideez in tow shortly followed by Toppa, Dave-H and mazzyjane.

Tents were pitched without too much hassle as the ground was nice and soft. Good to see some old faces and a couple of new faces already on site. The weather was good and it was already shaping up to be a good weekend.

More and more people turned up and the camp site owner's idea of confining us between the two tracks went a bit Pete Tong as there was what seemed to be a constant stream of Land Rovers of all shapes and sizes coming through the gate..

A few runs down the chippy and everyone was getting ready for a quiet and enjoyable evening meeting new people and having a couple of drinks. Then the heavens opened…. Never have I seen so many hastily-constructed shelters from... [Read More]

Treasure hunt – Salisbury Plain Xmas 2008
Feb 24, 2009 - 6:40 PM - by Satancom
Saturday

Being the first run with my recently built engine the drive to the Stone henge campsite took a little longer than last year but we arrived in good time. We parked up next to Schrieber who was sitting in the cab of his 90 looking pretty warm.. He jumped out and we said our hellos, he had only been there about 15 mins so hadn't been waiting long. Debs busied herself with the coffee, I busied myself setting up the bed and checking the fluids, and Schrieber went back to the warmth of his cab.

Around 5pm Toppa rolled in with Swingletree in tow, shortly followed by Roger Whittle in his disco. They all proceeded to set up their tents and I gave some really helpful advice whilst cuddling my cup of coffee, eventually giving toppa a hand with some of the poles.

Once we had set up camp Swingletree cracked out the Cuban Cigars and we sat back for an evening in the little camp we would call home for the next few hours..
