Today sees the repairs to the wheel arch at the drivers side nearing completion. Only thing left to do is to refit the plate for the seat belt mounts.

Corrosion wasnt quite as bad as i expected so it was just a case of making and fitting the replacement arch and surround panel and put two brace plates on the door pillar at the bottom where it meets the wheel arch panel.

Tommororw should see a start to getting the rear x-members in final position and tacked in place. Its beginning to come together quite nicely, i can see light at the end of the tunnel!!!!

OK, so today didnt quite go to plan, got caught up in other things. Managed a couple of hours tonight but couldnt be bothered geting the welding wand into action cause it was too late.

Did however make the first cuts in the rear quarters to begin shaping them to fit the body. (Makes mental note, must buy small jigsaw) The big electric saw i used on 90% of the body work is way too aggressive to use on the thin aluminium quarter panels. but first indications are that its gonna be awkward as hell to cut and shape the panels properly, so one bit at a time i guess.....this should be interesting. Strange thing is that now theres a few bob discos going round theres very little in the way of pictures etc on the web showing how they have all been done. So its just a slow process trying to get everything right first time.

will get some more pics up tommorow, with the rear of the quarter fitted in place it really is starting to look like a true representation of the finished item. Still a long way to go though, but the next week or so should see the hard work over and done with ready for the cosmetics of the interior rebuild, painting etc etc. Hmm........what to do colour wise???......might go for something a little different to the norm. Any suggestions??

Feeling quite chuffed tonight, just come in with a huge grin from ear to ear..

Just chopped the rest of the quarter panel down to size and made a trial fit, and boy its looking good. Still a lot to trim off before final fitting and finishing, but i guess tonight was my first real insight as to how the finished item is gonna look.

Pics below for those of you who wanna see how ive done it.

Cant wait to get out there again tommorow.........ive got the whole day to myself....
