Default Derbyshire Land Rover monthly regional meet

    Derbyshire Land Rover regional meet

Due to the shared response from the LRUK and POCUK forums the regional meet is now being held Monthly.

LOCATION: The Hollybush Inn, Makeney, Belper, Derby A6 to Matlock.
DATE: First Saturday in the month, 7:00pm or thereabouts.

We'll be in the rear conservatory so us series owners can feel at home with the drafts and leaking roof

The Hollybush Inn isn't actually on the A6, but it's still easy enough to find.
Just past Duffield, before you reach Belper (coming from Derby on the A6) there's a very sharp bend to the left in the road. On this bend turn right towards Makeley. A few hunderd yards down on the left is Holly Bush lane, turn up here and the Inn is on the corner.

So----Just in case I ever get back to Britian, Where is Derby? I know where London is. Would I go North, South, East or West? And how far?

Last time I was over "There" was almost 20 years ago. I've been know to show up at peculiar places at odd times so you never know if I might show.

I got the location pegged, the time, and you meet in the back room. What about proper dress? If someone from, Canada, say, were to turn up at the October meeting-and-bending-of-the-elbow , would they have to be wearing shirt, tie and sports jacket or would normal casual dress suffice? (Or is that normal casual dress?) Should one bring a proper notebook for keeping ones records of the event, or is there not much in the way of a formal meeting? For that matter, maybe there isn't much bending of the elbow and it is mostly a formal agenda that is followed.

It's tough showing up at such meetings in such an impromptu manner. By the way, would there be a spare chair at the October meeting? You know, incase someone extra showed up?

If you attend a meeting the seating arrangements are whoever falls of theirs first. Proper WD40 stained attire must be worn and you'll need an up to date Ordinance Survey map to mark up lanes (sorry, take minutes). If there isn't a spare chair I'm sure the car-park floor will surfice, after all that's where some of us end up at the end of the night

The car park floor you say! Tell me more. If someone used to driving on the proper side of the road were to show up at, say an October meeting, is there a special area of the car park set aside for meeting attendees? Maybe a preferred area for sleepng the night? And I don't know that meeting minutes in the form of Lane notes would be much use for someone in a rental car.

And if tonight was a busy night, how many would that be then?

I dont think you could find a more difficult-to-park-at pub, to be honest!
Nice place though. Good Barbeque too. Lovely cheese burgers. Dont worry bigkid, I'm sure your corned-beef sandwich was just as nice...

Did anyone know the guy with the fat-tyred 80" who rolled up just as we were leaving?

I got home at about 11.30ish after a relaxed drive back up the A6, and was supposed to nip into our local for a quick last pint, but got home and fell straight to sleep. Who'd have thought sitting on your **** in a car all day would be so tiring...
