Been looking at Land Rover Clubs - well ANY off-roader clubs really.
Basically, we've done a few organised Green-Lane runs, over N.Wales, and wife & kids loved'em & want to do more.

But before they get the idea that Wales is the ONLY place you can go green-laning, and start moaning at me that they are bored of it, I was thinking of expanding our horizons.

Checked out Midland Rover Owners Club, but they seem to be centred on West & South of Birmingham, and we are North & East of it.

Three Spires, I thought might pertain to Coventry, but I cant find any details other than the address of the secretary, in Walsall, which is a bit North of us, so might mean thier activities are centred more Staffs way. & the e-mail address quoted on the ARC web-site just bounced.

Which leaves Leicester & Rutland, which for some strange reason I have a foreboading about. {I'm a Warwickshire lad, and Leicestershire's the devils terratory, isn't it? - I mean, going back to the Wars of the Roses, then the civil war etc!) But any way, Leicester's about as far as Walsall, and closer than Redditch from me, and when It came to looking for clubs for the Lads cycling, I ended up enrolling them in Leicestershire clubs, becouse for some reason they seem more lively and less pretentiouse over there.

Basically looking for a club to go 'laning with, for the most part - being a member of two M/C trials clubs and competing almost every other Sunday, in that, I dont want a club that is too demanding, and who shun 'part-timers' like me, and it has to be 'family freindly', 'cos the Landie is the Family Fun bus, not my play thing.

So, to the point, any one a member of any of these clubs, or any others in the Coventry/Nuneaton area?

Any-one got any comments, reccomendations etc?

Anyone know of any Land Rover clubs in the Yorkshire area?

I'm already a member of two clubs one being the DOC and another is an internet based club. I go out with them both but they are both national clubs and wondered if there is a local club which I could join?

Any ideas welcome, cheers.

Hi Teflon,

I used to live in Hinckley, and I know its over the border still, but that's where the Fosse and Watling meet. When I was a member they were a fairly light hearted bunch into green lanes and the odd pay-to-play trip. At least half of the members are from Warks anyway. They should be listed in any of the mags under the non-ARC clubs.

i'm only in Baddesley ensor, there's a fair few of us round here and we get out and about quite often...my case, car permitting...i've 2 brothers and we all own landies and we always get out to Wales, peaks, laning....this lot on here are a good bunch and not clickie like some clubs...i was once a member of MROC, and West midlands and warwickshire land rover club, but now just LRUK and MUD-CLUB.......both brill and no membership....just constant pee takes ( if they met ya that is ) we have organised treasure hunts 3 times a year and just look on the green-laning section, ther's always some lot out n about.....

Teflon,
Does it have to be a Land Rover only Club? The NNOC (National Niva Owners Club) accepts owners of any 4x4 as members and has monthly meetings at sites from Chesterfield to Bewdley and Ironbridge, as well as laning in NE Wales. We don't do the competition or 'follow the leader' routine, preferring to sort ourselves out on the site, and everything is very family orientated.
