Went for a sundowner on the top of Rossing Mountain tonight.
Rossing mountain is approximately 40 km from Swakop and you can see the sea in the distance if the weather is good (which it wasn't really today, fog over the coastline).
662m ASL, says Garmin.
Ahh, the silence...
Sorry about the poor quality, I only had my phone with me.
Cheers, Frank

Lovely shots Frank, and doing well with just a camera phone.
It's bitterly cold down here at the moment, with temps dropping almost to zero, and more cold weather on the way. So we have two dogs and two cats who are our newest best-friends, sitting close by us in front of the gas fire trying to stay warm.
Cheers,
Marc

Hi Marc,
long time no hear!
Temp - wise we are OK here at the coast, lovely day today, friends of mine even saw some humpbacks on a cat - cruise. ENVY! Anyways, may I recommend one of NBL's products against the cold - Bockbier! Mmmhm!

I haven't seen any bock in the stores yet. It's good in the cold. I've been sticking to Guinness when I can get it on draught at night, but during the day it's either Windhoek or Becks.
I see that Amstel is back here, being brewed outside of SA. Is it being brewed in Namibia? If so, they're using maize (yech!!!) in the process. The barcode on the can starts with 83, but I don't know which country that is. Probably eastern Europe somewhere like Poland. I think that all Namibian products barcodes start with a 60 like South Africa.
It's interesting how many of our conversations eventually revolve around beer. :D

As far as I know, NBL only makes Heineken under License... Because Heineken holds shares in NBL which keeps them from falling to SAB Miller in the first place... But I could be wrong.
Bock available on tap here. Hmmhm. But watch it, it's got more punch than a lager...

Hi Margaret, no problem at all if I'm at the coast! When exactly are you coming through to Walvis Bay?

We will be arriving in Walvis on Friday 24 August to hopefully collect the Land Rover from the docks that day and probably into the middle of the following week when we are hopefully making a quick trip into Botswana to go into the CKGR then its back to Nam to meet our friends and hopefully go into the wetern dry river beds.
You notice my use of the word hopefully as we are now accustomed to the Africa syndrome ;)

Hi Margaret,
yes, according to my current schedule, I will be in Swakopmund over that weekend as I am currently preparing to move house (back to Windhoek). Would be great to meet up. Which rivers are you planning to drive?
Cheers Frank

That's good Frank - perhaps you could PM us some contact details. We are staying with Andre Burger at Ana's Inn on the corner of Atlantic Street and 5th? Road.
We are not sure which rivers we are driving as we are going with 2 other friends Cam & Wendy Wilson late of Walvis Bay now managing Ongava Tented Camp and we are leaving the planning to them.
