We went to a deserted area near ga-Rankuwa where there were only our twenty land rovers and a few off-road motorcycles scooting around.
A great time was had by all. Bernard, who organised the event, described it as saying that if you don't want scratches on your landy then stay at home. The scraping noises down the sides of the landy were like finger nails down a blackboard. There was an abundance of acacia type trees and bushes with those three inch long thorns.
The route was rough but not vehicle breaking ..... well shouldn't have been, except in a deep trough I didn't get far enough left for when the landy was going to lean over to the right and found the body of the landy from the back right door to the rear firmly against the embankment.. Needless to say only one person was stupid enough to do this. Fortunately no dents but what a horrible noise driving off it.
Haven't got a pic of it but there is a pic of the 130 that was ahead of me missing the embankment by millimetres.
Then there was a climb up tennis ball hill. I would have renamed it football hill because the rocks the whole way up were no smaller than footballs. Slow and easy with much bouncing and obviously trying to avoid any kind of wheelspin.
The day was warm, in fact quite hot, and a pleasant picnic was enjoyed at the top of the hill.
