View Full Version : Pub meet at last
Sheeeesh you okes can nag. I'm suspecting AA needs a call (and not Automobile Assocication either).:)
What about we get together for the final between the Bulls and Sharks on Sat 19th at the Keg and Squire in Constantia Kloof? If you've made arrangements for the final already then we can change it to this Saturday for the semis.
If we make it the Keg and Archer in Centurion I'm sure my son can make sure we get a good table for viewing.
Suggestions welcome if you prefer to keep it to a Friday.

I'm good either day as far as I can tell. I'll be in Malawi from tomorrow until the 17th, and I'm going to see "HAIR" on 18th, but apart from that, I'm available.
Marc
Emlyn can't make it this weekend either so let's settle for the 19th and watch the final.
Bvudzi, hope you're ok for 19th. I'll get hold of Norman.
I was reading through your thread about what people think about South Africans for your comedian friend and everyone commented on how much South Africans drink. The scary thing is all the South Africans at the camping last weekend who said they had been to Rhodesia commented on how much Rhodesians drank  .

If I weren't going to be hurling my guts out in the sea somewhere south of Cape Point on the 19th I'd consider dropping in for a dop! :)
(now there's a lovely, ladylike image for you..!)
Are you considering getting drunk out there or sea sick? Next pub meet no excuses. What's 1600kms between friends?

I'll be attempting to watch birds (pelagic trip) on the sea. But perhaps I'll still turn up at a pub meet, you never know! :)

What's that all about?

Basically you get up blerry early, head out on a boat to the open sea, follow a fishing trawler and add sea-birds to your "spotted" list, ones you wouldn't see from shore. Expected are a variety of gulls, petrels and albatrosses. I'm going with a right twitcher, so I'm more company and observer (and hurler) than anything else. Probably the only time I'll ever do this, so that makes it a once in a lifetime experience!

Looks like I'm going to Durban this weekend!
Please excuse me from the Pub meet.
If it's because you're going to be at Kings Park then no you're not excused :bigun2:

Me in a sharks jersey? Fat chance!
Ticket arrived today via spoedpos from Durbs.
Last "For Sale" sign went up at the local pick n pay. If somebody comes up with the boodle, I'll make a quick grand and come and watch it at the Keg. If not, I'll have to drive down and use it...
I hope someone buys it because I'd hate the thought of you driving all the way back to Pretoria / Tshwane / whatever with tears streaming down your cheeks from the hiding the Bulls are going to get. :cryeyesou

At least you'll have plenty or Scotch to drink your sorrows away when we drag those sharks onto the beach by their tails and cut their fins off for soup.

Hello all,
I've just returned from Malawi.
Kevin, I received your SMS, but I'm answering on the forum because I hate using the keyboard on my phone.
Brigid and I are available on Saturday, so we'll be there. It's our 21st anniversary, so we won't stay long after the match.
Which Keg is it?
Marc
My son's one in Centurion where we were previously. Shirley, Emlyn and Norman should also be there and maybe another chap who owns a (currently engine in bits) 88" series IIa. Others are going to Kings Park instead and want to shout 'Blou Bulle' in the middle of the shark tank.
We won't think you rude if you leave early.

Two boys are playing cricket on a field in Durban when one is attacked by a vicious Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the other boy took his cricket bat and managed to wedge it down the dog's collar and twist, luckily breaking the dog's neck and stopping its attack. A reporter who was strolling by sees the incident, and rushes over to interview the boy.
"Young Sharks Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal, "he starts writing in his notebook.
"But I'm not a Sharks fan," the little hero replied.
"Sorry, since we are in Durban, I just assumed you were," said the reporter and starts again.
"Western Province Fan Rescues Friend from Horrific Attack ..." he continued writing in his notebook.
"I'm not a Western Province fan either!" the boy said.
"I assumed everyone in Durban was either for the Sharks or Western Province." "So what team DO you root for?" the reporter asked.
"I'm a Blue Bulls fan!" the child beamed.
The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes,
"Little ******* from Pretoria Kills Beloved Family Pet."
:D :D
Those were great Michelle and Bvudzi.

Would it be very inconvenient to move it to the 29th?
Groot asseblief. I'd really like to attend and haven't been able to do so this year!
I'm ok for it. Anyone who can't make the 29th post now or for ever hold your peace (which I nearly went and spelt incorrectly).

Hello wildchild,
I'm a bit embarassed that I didn't see your earlier posts, so I don't think I ever introduced myself.
Anyway, it'll be a pleasure to meet you at Golddiggers on the 29th. The address is 772 6th Street, Wynberg. Not far off the M1 Grayston Drive offramp.
Cheers,
Marc

The chairman of the Gauteng chapter of the Land Rover Forums has proposed a pub meet.
As the town crier, it is my duty to announce this.
Hail Ye! Hail Ye!
Marc feels a beer moment coming on.
When would be a good day to meet at diggers?
After the long weekend. 17th?
Marc Lurie

17th sounds good provisionally. I'll have to check with my workmates because they might have me lined up out of the country.

I'm likely to be in Namibia, or somewhere in Botswana on the way back.
