Byway permits

Anyone out there on the IOM?

We are possibly visiting this summer and I believe there is a permit scheme in operation to drive the island's BOATs. Anyone confirm this? Or know how to apply for one?

yep the majority of roads are listed as greenway which has a 1/2 ton limit unless permitted.

not applied for permits myself but if you ring the dept of transport on 01624 686600 they should be able to help you. if you want help re routes drop me a pm may even be up fir a day out if u want a guide,

I have found the contact details and sent an email to the relevant dept tonight hopefully i should hear back soon re permits and then will be able to assist any members visiting the island who wish to off road in getting a permit.

Thanks for that - I have been in touch with IOM dept and got the info. Probably visiting in september now so may well drop you a line for some info.
