Bored of half term? Looking for something to do? Need to put a smile on your face?

Who? wants to go out laning?:)

When? any day between tomorrow Thursday 15th Feb and Sunday 18th Feb?

Where? Dunno - could be Wiltshire, could be the Peak District, wherever really.

Why? Cos the mussus is away and I'm going laning with or without ya.:D

How? I know non-damaging lanes in both areas, have maps, bow saw, waffles, winch and will travel.

Reply or PM me, tell me if you can't go but would like to etc.

PS - I don't bite either. Ada and Conkers can vouch for that I'm sure;)

Me and me mate could be up for this if it's in the Peak and at weekend. (we're based in Congleton).

We've (or rather he) has just bought a Rangie for playing with. We're new to this game and it would be good to go out with some more experienced people and pick thier brains whilst having a good laugh:D
We've got an F plate 3.5EFI, 2" lift, all the guards, rocksliders, general grabbers and snorkel.
We don't have a winch.....YET:) but do have ropes & shovels.

Had our first outing last w/e and absolutely POOED ourselves:eek:
Thought we were going to do a gentle first outing after reading..........
L.R.O August issue, page 153 Washgate Road. SK062687
Now to us, that READ as reasonable for a first outing (ref the quote, "THERE ARE A FEW LARGE ROCK STEPS ON THIS CLIMB-ONE WOULD CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR STANDARD FREELANDERS"

Freelanders my ar$e!!!!!!!!! I defy a standard Disco to get up that rubish! Don't know if it's us that's still a pair of inexperienced pussies:o but we both thought that the write up was WELL out of order and could have led people into trouble! Don't know how the hell the car did it but it pulled us out 4 up (wives in the back- NEVER again!;) ).

Baically, we want to gain more experience but have the security of numbers. We're also both well up for any working parties in our area.

I scare myself driving up the M4 Paul:D

Been looking at the maps and had a different train of thought. There's a few lanes between Leamington Spa and Daventry which I'd like to have a look at tomorrow (Friday) if you're up for it Ada.

Then on Sunday I'm planning to do a few lanes to the north of Salisbury Plain starting from Marlborough.

That is almost right on my doorstep, 25 minutes at the most, can't you change it to Saturday? Please?

WHAT TIME YA THINKING jonathan...

Not too early - how about 10:30 am in the middle of Stoneleigh Village SP 331 728? Little idea of route attached...more than is possible in a day, but plenty to get on with.

Hey Conkers - it's a tad far for a day trip, but it would be easier for you because it's downhill from Edinburger innit?

Widget it would be quicker and more fuel efficient to use M42, M6 and A12 for your journey, also car sharing would be eco friendly:D

what a great day......very slippy, and wet...Great leader our Widget, a pleasure laning with him....covered some miles both off-road and on, the last lanes of the day were fab. Looked like they hadn't been driven for some time, came across aTRO on one lane, but the last ones made up for it...we turned left up a hill, and Betty did struggle with grip were as Jon made it look easy with the Auto V8..(the motor did the gear selection;) )..then as we went thru a gate( opened it first ), Jon was infront, and some way down the track, i shut the gate and followed...then Betty got grip on some ruts and then the front end went in a ditch...no way out..Little Mason asleep in the front:eek: , and the motor on tiptoes..Widgey could'nt get round, so had to drive the rest of the lane on his own and come back up it and TAKE ME FROM BEHIND:D :D ...so after pulling me out and turning around, we called it a day....will try and download photo's from phone later....once again.....nice on JON...ada / mason

I had a ace time too, great company is our Ada:D

To start with I though the lanes were a bit tame at the Stoneleigh end - but the lane with the railway bridge was brilliant. Someone had junked their roofrack - a genuine parts rack off a 110 we reckoned.

There was quite a lot of evidence of idiots going off piste on the Warwickshire lanes - but on the Northants lanes there are some very stern signs saying that the lanes will close if you play silly b's.

The villages were very pretty, lots of inviting looking pubs all set in great scenery.

Those last lanes were proper sticky! Incredibly gloopy, with barely enough grip in places requiring a little momentum to carry you through. But we got through, with no impact on the ground and no vehicle damage. And of course tugging Ada from behind is the stuff of legend - we'll be telling tall tales about it round the camp fire in Wales this summer!

I got some funny looks tooling down the M1 - a mud caked Landy making, ahem, very swift progress.;)

I took a little detour on the way home to visit a ford - up to the door bottoms which conveniently washed a little mud off. A great end to a great day:D

Now planning the route for Sunday around Salisbury Plain - starting from Marlborough - is there any interest out there folks?

(Just downloaded these from the phone. Images 3/4/5 are on the slippy hill - looks nothing sat at home!)

I too was driving my desk, but if only I'd read this earlier - I live about 3 miles from the route. Would have had to have borrowed a seat, as still haven't got my finger out of my a**e and brought a Landy yet.
