Can anyone tell me how to contact Trails route experiment or any organisation opposing the Lakes green lane ban.
I feel that i want to get involved before it's to late.

What annoys me is the attitude of a great many walkers and ramblers. Not all of them, but a large number who visit the lake district and walk on the fells have little or no respect for them or others around them. I've lost count of the amount of time I've spent clearing up after others, closing gates, etc etc.
Having seen the effect that the enforced closure of the fells during the foot and mouth outbreak had on the fells, I am amazed that any walker can get on their high horse about erosion.
I must admit I am to blame, I lived in the lake district for the first 18 years of my life and regularly visit my parents there. I walk the fells and climb the crags there as much as I can. BUT....I always ensure that I only ever leave footprints, I am careful of where I walk, I avoid over walked routes, and have spent time volunteering and rebuilding large section of paths/walls.
I can see no reason whatsoever to ban 4*4/softroaders other than the idiots who don't know how to use them and how big they are who clog up the small roads in the lakes. In all the times I've walked and climbed in the lake district I have hardly ever seen people in 4*4s on the green lanes, and on the few occasions that I have they have been behaving reasonably and in a friendly manner, stopping for chats etc etc. (thats not just LR owners BTW)
Maybe I should be saying this somewhere else other than a land rover forum, but it does upset me.
Just read this over and it seems to be a bit of a rant. Sorry!

Just had a very amicable and informative chat with David Robinson who is Trails Management Officer for the National Park Authority.
I've invited David here to these forums with a view to sensibly discussing the various issues relating directly with Green Laning in the Lake District.
Watch this space :)
good one O/F, great job:p

Hello, new member here - I useually lurk on the LRO forum.
Any way, we have been following the issue over there on our Green-Lane Forum. We have had a lot of input from the variouse mags, and LARA.
Now there is a meeting of the LPA 25/11/03, and LARA have stated that they would appreciate a 'good public turn out' in peaceful support of thier rep, Geoff Wilson who will be putting LARAs arguments against thier management plan at the meeting.
Details are at:- "Lakes Laning Ban - Action 25/11/03" (http://threads.lro.com/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=forum&Number=284295&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5)
If you would like to sign up to give your support.
This thread also links to the original debate on the LRO 'Green Lane Forum', if any-one is interested in what we have gleaned on the issue.
Many thanks, Hope to see you all in Kendal in November!
