cheap engine to fit series 3

need a cheap but good engine for a series 3, station wagon with safari roof top. engine is playin up and so is the gearbox, any1 knows about any cheap stuff to replace the lot? even non LR stuff as long as it moves as its supposed to resume duty as a rescue vechile

I have a ford 2.8 V6 with adapter plate fitted to an LT77 gearbox and transfer box that i took out of an early defender 1984 all working run smooth all gears low and high diff lock works removed it to fit diesel engine
