Hi just wondering if anyone is getting rid of a good condition lightpod for defender 110, just looking to save a few quid on buying new if i can. :D No preferance on colour as it would be being resprayed anyway.

Why a light pod? why not A-bar or roof mounted light bar?

There is guy who often sells them on Ebay... he's in Derbyshire too. As is the way.. there wasn't one listed when I just looked.

because every landrover i see has an A bar with spots. Althought it will be having a roof mounted light bar too at some point.

Pete is right! they do look wrong and out of place sticking off the front of a landy bonnet IMHO, esspecially on a non-ralley vehicle! But personal choice I guess!

to each their own I suppose

am I right in thinking that light pods can be used on the road and roof lights cannot?

Thats a nice thing to say i was hoping here i was going to escape the if i dont like it, its **** and im going to say so attidude. Why comment if you have nothing postive to say you could say nothing, fine if your reason for not liking them was because of something mechanical but because its pathetic i think is pathetic in itself.
I never said there was anything wrong with A bars and will when i have the money find someone who can custom make one to accomodate the lightpod.

No they cannot. they are above standard headlight level! To be legal they have to be inline or below the headlights! IIRC anyway!

im not saying light pods dont look silly when you just jam one on. But i spose it depends what else you do to make it look less silly. Id call light pods an aquired taste lol.

Because its a forum a place for folk to have a say.
I still think a lightpod on a 110 station wagon would look pathetic,or should i of said silly....I guess it is for the 110 isnt it?

I never said there was anything wrong with A bars.
You didnt ...I did...

At the end of the day,we all do silly things to our Landrovers, ive got a safari snorkel, not to everyones taste, also ive got a heater wind scoop which people might say look daft and dont do the job intended.....

some might even say that my wolfs look S+*t...But hey,who cares?

while they look good it is true though... almost every landy has an A-bar and spots.. doesnt really have much uniqueness to it :(

I dont know, even with the same a bars, they never seem to look the same, i thinks its great that people have different views on what they want thier landy to look like, makes it more interesting looking at other peoples, and certainly give you things to discuss.

Cheers

Sorry Geo, yer wrong mate:D They can be used so long as there infront of the centre of the front axle, no matter what height. In the same way trucks can have spots on their roofs;)

Very good point, and one I'm amazed I didn't think of., I presume you mean in this sense http://www.wagonpics.com/nhtinnelypic.jpg? Anyone fancy a set of them on a Landie :D

My view on this is that the Light Pods look alright on Lancia Delta's and other rally cars, but having never seen one on a Landie I can't comment until I have, but I do like the look of a good A-Bar + Spots, and IMO they look better then a full set of bullbars.

huh thats odd! When I got me LR safari 5000s they came with a legal warning of the height in relation to headlights! Para-phrasing it said not higher than standard vehicle headlights! Will dig out the instructions if I can find them!

Any joy on the instuctions Geo? I'm 99% sure I'm right, else all trucks would be illegal! I know your not supposed to have roof mounted lights on a landy for road use, as the lights on the roof would be behind the center of the front axle, but if you had one of those roof racks that come to the end of the bonnet, it would be legal. As long as they wern't over 55W:D

they look completely cack on the rangerover, ill give you that... infact, they generally look cack in pictures. look tons better if you can see one infront of you.. thats the only reason id have one - if it was down to pics alone i probably wouldnt

its only illegal if you get caught :D

precisely - lets face it, your not likely to have them on unless you're driving with full beam OR blinding chavs...

1. if you've got full beam on, theres nothing in front anyway

2. chavs arent police ;)

:heheheheh very sharp! told you they look better in the flesh though, so to speak :) see if you can find one around anywhere and have a good look. i think ill fit one even if only to get some decent pics on the net! every lightpod pic really does make them look bad.

as i said earlier in the thread, the guy that towed our 110 to us was driving a rather large black 130 double cab... infact, its this one - http://www.mrmlandrover.co.uk/MRMvehicleDetails.asp?filename=319. it breaks up the front a bit, gives it a bit more shape... looked quite menacing coming up the road! again, the pics dont do much for it, but it really did look good :)

Still not convinced, ive seen more than a care to remember in the flesh, whilst doing a spot of hill rally marshalling a while back.
Dont get me wrong,a land rover which competes in some sort of rally, such as the hill rally,do benfit no end to such a mod, early morning stages etc....

As said,each to there own...
