By eck your almost a newbie on the forum Dave! In which case Hello and Welcome! :yay:

Well lemme see! I was going to do the wayfarer and corwen carwash if not too high and then maybe the pheasant steps too! And failing anyone else I was going to take a map and go for a wander! I will get my maps out and have a look now!

Anyone else local that also happens to be lurking???? :D

Thanks for the welcome Geo

Been searching this site for the pheasant steps - looks interesting!!

Carwash sounds good to - assuming its not too high as my TD5 has no snorkle!

When and where do you want to meet up?

Righteo then! Say 1000 in betws-y-coed, do you know where the litle chef is? not sure it is open anymore, the petrol station sure isn't!

What sort of kit do you have? is your TD5? and have you ever been laning before?

You got company! That's good. I tend to wander over into the Ceriog Valley from Llangollen or Glyndwfrdwy, then spend a bit of time on the figure of eight at the back of Llanarmon, and going off in the general direction of Oswestry. Several ways out, but usually the Wayfarer or the one over the top from the Llanrhaedr direction into Llandrillo. Depends on what sort of mood I'm in and how much coffee's left in the flask!

10 in Betws will be fine, know where the little chief is, I am in a blue TD5 truck cab, not been green-laning before but I have done landrover experience and survived a few of the Landcraft forest trips (very good days out).

Got a good tow rope, hi-lift, steering guard, 7.50 Rangemasters & tow-points front and back but the rest is standard.

See you tomorrow

Should have got a 90 instead of the 110, wouldn't have had this problem with her volunteering me to do things, got to take 8 kids from the local youth club (of which she's the treasurer) to some event or other in the week. It's easier than getting a mini bus she says, this from someone who when I brought said what do you want that old heap for.

No criticism intended Geo!! That's one of the two 'easy over' spots in the valley, the other being the chicken leg 'V' gulley down into Glyn Ceriog itself. That one I don't go down solo when it's wet, just in case. The steps are ok if you get the approach angle right, but even then the articulation of the rear axle is something to behold! I think Dafydd can vouch for how far off the ground one of my wheels got. You don't realise when you're in the vehicle though! Last time I went down I noticed that my motor was bottoming out in a few places - things are getting deeper!

Non taken mate! I know there are worse places around the Ceiriog valley! and I know the gulley well, I walked up and down it several times during my DofE course! I certainly would not take Eva up or down that gulley with that tent on her roof Uh uh no way! However I would love to try it!

The 'V' gulley into Glyn Cerioig runs from 190382 to 203382. The Bady from 204394 to 219412.
I would suggest driving the Bady downhill as the lady at the bottom has horses and they get disturbed by the sound of revving engines caused by vehicles trying to go uphill.
