Right.
Well.
I was in South Wales this weekend for a few lanes with some friends.
The Gap has been closed for you.
Reason? Well, basically it looks like someone has come along with a
full size jcb and dug out a pit at the lower end of the lane. It is
deep enough to swallow almost a normal gardening spade. Plus long
enough to loose a freelander.
The people that tried it had winches plus bridiging ladders and the
rest of the gear we all carry!!!!

Not sure how that would help, as both freelanders were more and better equipped than your 110 :D :D
I think the only thing you're 110 had that they didn't was a low-transfer-box.
There was a Disco 3.9 V8i in the group as well ;)
Photos I have seen, but they are yet to be uploaded.
I was in another group as we split up, and got some nice relaxing laning pictures of that. Got to do a bit of driving myself.
The 4.5 V8 was a bit meaty for me, however the 3.9 V8i 7 seater was the perfect motor for returning to the campsite tanked up with curries. Pity about the bloke on the roofrack :D :D :D

Its only open part of sept and first weekend of oct anyway, plus a few weeks in march/april. Maybe the council has dug the hole to stop illegal use outside these dates.......

It's only a 3.5 actually, but it's quick enough still (it's mine!) The pic can currently be seen as the picture of the day at www.mad-freelanders.org.uk
We _nearly_ got a Freelander through to the right side as it was light enough to not cave the hole in too much, but the waffles were slipping over still and the risk of damage to the lane and vehicle too great (plus it was p!$$ing down !) It's even more annoying that someone's deliberately done this when the lane is only open for another 5 days anyway - why bother ? especially when GLASS very recently did some excellent repairs further up towards the Blasted Bridge. There's some selfish folks out there ... :(

Oh that hole.....its been there a while (was ther last april). There were some logs in the bottom of it to help fill it in a bit. We had to use waffles over it too.

Hello all,
Billzebub , me and the lads did the gap last weekend .
unfortunatly non of the landrovers went due to many reasons so the deed was done in my volvo TGB13 .
Dave drove the gap with me riding shotgun , fantastic track worth doing .
have a look at the pictres and video below.

Seems now that the damage was the result of erosion and something washing out, but it's still being investigated I think... :o :o
Oh well, I tried....

yep that big hole at the top of the first rise before the gap , did catch us out but both diff locks and six wheel drive won the day ( this time ).
you dont see it you just drop into it far deeper than the rest .
all the best
