View Full Version : Idiots on Bikes!

Wandering round the Berwyns today, heading to the top of the Wayfarer from Cynwyd, I saw a motor bike skylined on a ridge about one mile away from the road on the right hand side. Now, there's no vehicle routes in that area, only footpaths, so, when three bikes appeared from that direction shortly after I reached the top, I pointed out that they were riding on a footpath. I felt sorry for two of them, who seemed decent blokes, because they appeared to be following the first on the presumption that he knew where he was going, and everything was ok. But, the leader! What a stupid little ****!!!! Tried to tell me that bikes were allowed on footpaths, that the Wayfarer wasn't a road because there were gates across it and it wasn't tarmaced, that it was ok for them to use it because they were on bikes, but not vehicles, etc., etc. He was the type who'd argue that black was white! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get their reg. numbers as the plates were covered in mud and I decided that, being outnumbered three to one, it wouldn't be wise to brush the mud off to get a look!
Following along after they'd ridden off (leader in a huff!), you could see the maximum acceleration applied when leaving each gate they'd had to open. Long lines of chewed up surface! Why?
Right, I feel better now I've got that off my chest!!

No i dont think all bikers are like that, i've come across some that are very sensable and respect that we are loosing these rights of way...Cheers

In any thing you do, you always get some ******** who thinks they no best and break all the rules/laws etc and then argue blind that they are right.

I had the displeasure of letting someone take the lead once, and ended up off road and then realising we should not be there. I then wouldn't blindly follow this person anymore, and then they got upset with me.. but at the end of the day, I wanted to ensure I was driving correctly...

Though it is not always easy to stand up to these type of people at the time.

It is a shame these bikers did what they did, as this just fuels the arguement even more for the likes of the RA

these are the sort of riders that it wont bother them WHEN our rights of way are removed , they will still go out ..

Dafydd,
Never actually seen anyone in that mudhole, but I would be more than willing to report them! I used to enjoy sitting up there on a nice day having my coffee and butties! I know how it started, but that's a long time ago now, and those concerned did modify their behaviour!
I met several other groups of bikers in the area (there were a lot about!) and they were all fine, sensible people. Just those three - amazing how little it takes to spoil your day!
