Hi all,
Well believe it or not i have lived in the lake district for several years and have not yet been out green laning. However have just decided in last couple of hours to go tommorrow. Transport will be modified disco on at tyres and standard range rover on mud terrains. Question is where do we go for a challenge?

Top of Station Road Coniston or other end; from Seathwait NW of Ulpha. It's on the maps.
Suggest that you confirm status with GLASS. Plenty of links on this forum.

Have a look at Lakes site http://www.lake-district.gov.uk/

Click on work of the athority, then access to the countryside, then green road driving. If your not sure about the status email David Robinson.

Hope it helps.

Hi Gavin,
Not knowing the freelander i dont really know, just know that at 2 points en-route i was doubtfull if my disco would make it on all terrain cheepo tyres ;)
at a few places ground clearence a bit tight. But hey ho we made it no problem and are going back sooooooooooon to do it in reverse (not literally)
:D :D

Hello there

Whilst this is a lane I havn't driven yet, I have walked down it coming of the Old Man of Coniston and as a former Freelander owner I think you would be pushing it to the limit. The problem would be the lack of ground clearance rather than the ability of the motor.

Thanks Paul,

I did think it would be a toughie for a freelander. (Fettler ducks for cover)
It is a great drive though but must be taken slowly.

yeah i did the walk down the old man walking back into the town of conistion what a leg killer, must admit the clearance is a problem even in a ploughed muddy field
