Sorry its a bit late but just back from Crathes Castle where I have spent the day nosing around the vehicles on show. I thought I had better let folk know that it is on again tomorrow and that there are a few vehicles that Landy enthusiasts might like to see.
First is a pristene Series 1 in green. Its stunning, as if it has just rolled off the production line.
Second is a 101 FC owned by a smashing chap called Bill. I mentioned I used to crew a 101 many years ago when I was a member of a Milan anti-tank team. He offered me a seat in his truck and ended up taking myself and 2 daughters with him into the show arena during the parade. He rolled up the canvas and the 2 wee ones sat in the back waving to the crowd. :)
Third is a rather nice Willis Jeep. Bought in France and done up as an American military police convoy vehicle. Again the owner, Mike I think, was a smashing chap to chat with.
Forth, there was a series 2a hard top for sale. Pretty good nick all round with some 50k on a 2.25 deisel engine. 3 seats up front and two bench seats with lap belts in the rear. Tow bar, new exhaust, rear cross member, tyres, and a few other bits I can't remember. Looks in pretty good nick all round. The chap wanted £1700 ono. I have his details if anyone wants.
There were several other Landys on the list, but they had not turned up..maybe they will appear on Sunday.
Worth a visit if you like your older cars etc, and only £4 to get in.
Also, there appears to be an offroad course next to the Milton of Crathes visitor centre, can anyone shed some light on that???
Robps, Pics to follow if I can download them.
