Why should the landy be clean? I sort of like the look of my landy as it is... not covered in mud but not sparkling clean. Looks rough just like a defender should. Hehe. Unfortunately I doubt I'll be able to find time to go hauling some bricks so I'll have to park as a classic.

all you need db is a couple of bricks/stones depending on the articulation of you truck;) . i will get some camo net also
dborg01
16th Mar 2005, 15:37
No problem, I'll get something to show the articulation, though there's not much of it on my landy!!
And it's not a rattle I got but 800W of raw sound power :D
I'll try to keep it clean as it seems like all of a sudden I end up driving in mud :o
....it's an addiction.....you know!!
But I will try to keep it clean. Just let us know who's gonna come and the place and time where we are meeting!
...and hey let me know who's got MMS phones so that I'll send you the Land Rover Logo!
Hope all of you will be there.

best offroad vehicle in the world me thinks...
Bobbed Range Rover... what more can u want
100inch chassis best for offroad.. nor too big nor too small,
comfort... sorry for 90 owners but have u spent a whole day driving in a 90... bloody uncomfortable i think when compared to a range..
and finally i think it looks gorgeous... ah wish i win the lottery...

Good fun yesterday... Pity i couldnt put my landy on decent show, but i didnt want to put it in the way and cover the stars of the show.
We need to think ahead of posters, banners and stuff for any other events we might take part in. We`d kick **** then!
It would have helped if we knew a bit more about the event before actually turning up. We were a bit pressed for time there.
Insomma... nice one.. :beers:
we need briefing, as dborg suggested. and preferably we see the place before hand

21st Mar 2005, 10:15
yeah as it was the public couldnt really "see" the landies ...... all they did was walk 'in front' and look at them head-on ....
if there is a next time i suggest :
1. a wee bit more space between the landies (ok we were tight and it wasnt our fault at all) .... but on a dispay people should have access to walk all around them.
2. if space permits we could open doors, rear access and bonnets (ok ok i know gotta clean the engines to do that but if we know well in advance no big deal)
3. maybe we could each prepare a sign with some info (y.o.m, type, engine etc .... ) on the particular landy, all have some 'past' ... especially Series and Lightweights. do NOT forget that non-landie owners wouldnt know much about them so some info might be appreciated.
4. some really muddy ones wouldnt go amiss either - ive been to Geneva and Barcelona auto shows and in the Rally section u always find some really dirty WRC cars in their natural environment AND its those that people take most pics of.
5. like some said some LAND ROVER banners would go amiss.
thats all i can think of atm :D

I'll upload some pics this week, hopefully Wednesday.
As for a next event, on the the 22nd of April it's Earth Day. Think about that. I already have my ideas. Next week we meet and we can see what to do. How does that sound?

call me cynical imma i think that even if you pass through a valley with a land rover on your back, the public especially the environment people will never see offroading as something positive..
You wanna do something good, go and arrange with an orphanage and take the kids out for a day... with the landy's of course.. then feed them... let them play somewhere and take them back...
at least the landy's will be put to good use there

Cil... i was on the idea of a cleanup campaign.. like joe had suggested once.
When the Supplies gathering centre in Hamrun needed extra `trucks` to transport the huge ammount of stuff for the tsunami victims... damm didnt they thank us for the helping hand. Im not saying so we show off... but use our 4x4s for the communities benefit every now and again.
We could ask any local councils if they need any things done.. and we can take it from there. One weekend a month.. or two.. we have a `project` and we do something. And after some sweat and work... we could easily hit a quick BBQ and few drinks.
We could run a campaign for a couple of localities.. and with hard work.. you earn a good reputation.
Im sure Daniel has something brewing ....

Taking the kids out for the day is no good that just breaks their heart! Cos you have to take them back.
Ok I will, you are cynical.
Say something positive some times Cill.
Filkas if you don't want to try to something to promote what we do then don't, we are going to try or some people are.
Good luck to those who try.

hmm different ideas different mentality...
I used to work in a place where everynow and then we used to take out kids for a day... once we took them to the dolphin park, once to popeye village
let me tell u these kids loved it... true they had to go back but at least they could look back and say that they had a good time and a change from the usual routine...
at least occasionally they do get a good day out since they are not fortunate enough to get them often...
hmm mela i go and do xi clean up day so some toqba ta sorm comes and dumps a pile of terrapin the day after like it has been done before...
ah edit my post buzz because of some language because when i remember i start seeing red....
then again different opinions and different mentalitys...

I know i am cynical because i dont beleive that the whole thing can be promoted... and yes some of the events that you guys organize I personally see them as too optimistic and personally i see them as doing more harm than good... You know maybe more about the way that i think because if I recall we did have some conversations about these...
Just to give you an example of the situation now re offroading in the past the NOC used to be inaugurated by the Minister of Sports or whoever and used to leave from Les Lapins... can you immagine the whole thing like the Dakar sort of thing... and see the situation now.. and forget the whole thing that you can ever go back to those times... Maybe tonio and grem can give us a bit of a nostalgia of those times... I myself wish i was older to remember because unfortunately i always wanted to see that site...
Well now we are in the current situation...The only way is to let sleeping dogs lie....which is what i believe is the right thing to do...
but like i said in previouse posts... different opinions and different mentalities..

Guys, we've been through this before. Whatever we do publicly will backfire. Please lie low for the love of Christ. Any publicity will put us in bad light no matter how hard we try. I've been in the scene longer than most of you knew that the sport existed and we've been hunted down by the authorities ever since. If you want to show off your landies at some static event, so be it, but don't try to promote any form of offroad driving. We're in enough schmuck already. All we need is some new kids on the block to eradicate us totally.

reiny, we not promoting offroading... anzi.... we want to do somethin thats good!
last such event we did was simply at ghajn tuffieha planting trees ON FOOT, no landies, just hands and feet. we enjoyed it, coz we were a good group, we passed comments, people laughed and we did some good.
we not trying to promote offroading, we do it coz we like it. we dont have stickers and no application forms and no fees. we just a group of friends that have a common hobby, land rovers. you were in the sport before us, i agree. but we dont go racing. like in summer all we used to do is drive on tarmaced roads to a bar, just sit, drink and laugh and head back home after an hour or 2.
both our clubs are different. your club is an offroad club that has land rover enthusiasts in it, ours is just simply a group of people that like land rovers, like helping people and like enjoying a good day out.
dont see why there is all this hostility all of a sudden....

alllo reiny. welcome :D. 2 new members to this forum ehh.
BTW the organiser at KDZ gave you a big thank you for the show and wish to see us again next year. Besides that he is going to give us the whole area next time to have more space as we did a hit. Many youths were happy to see the articulated landies. He also told me that it was great to see the convoy of landies as it gathered a l ot of attention. and was also very happy with the repalcement cars.
so thank you all for your response and hope to see some new guys next time that join us here on this forum.

If we're not going to pull the same rope, yes there will be hostility. Going greenlaning in bunches of 12 vehicles creates noise, (whether you're using a road or not), noise attracts the attention of people and people awake the sleepoing dogs which will bite when they awake.
If you think that the AWDC didn't volunteer to take part in activities like clean up the world and other similar things, you're wrong. We did volunteer and we were told not to go.
With all due respect guys, I met a few of you and you're marvellous chaps, each and every one of you, however, you really need to get to know some of us more and learn what kind of crap we've been through. If you want to walk hand in hand with the AWDC, we'll be more than glad to have you with us but guidelines must be followed. We can't afford to have people with similar interests in a tug of war between themselves.
