Is there anyone aware of any 'groups' doing any green laning, or mild off road stuff around the Derby. Never been, but don't want to go on my own, just in case I got stuck, or break down!!
Apologies if this seems a rathewr daft question to all you hardened types!!

We sometimes do a green lane run before the pub meet on the first of the month. I'm working though and not sure if anybody else is thinking about doing some laning.
You could think of joining a local Land Rover club. I'm in the Buxton and District Land Rover Club - www.badlrc.co.uk - only £20 per year with lots of events to attend and get muddy :)

Me and Bulkhead Ali are into that kind of stuff and we live in Alvaston, and the map is marked up :)

There are a few of us on here that go out, apart from myself there is si-guru, cerberus, heckflosse, skyline, mungo, callisr and some others that I have bound to have forgotten (sorry). By all means Mark let's get summat sorted and go 'lanin' :)

cheers, Tim

Buxton and District LR Club have got a play day on next weekend. I'm up for a bit of green laning, although it will have to be on a Sunday for the next few weeks.

Astounded by the response, cheers to everyone. Are there any basic bits I need to check before going, and any basic bits and bobs I could do with getting?

By your user name I imagine you may live very close to me
As regards to recovery gear it's always nice to have;
good off-road bias tyres,
a good 12ton tow rope and a couple of good shackles,
a basic tool kit,
jack,
spade,
pick,
wood saw,
good water proof boots,
warm clothes,
a hot flask in winter,
and water in summer

Then the list can go as high as your budget allows, to include hi-lift jacks, sand ladders, winches, snorkles, etc. etc.

Thanks for that, you say I must live close, you might have guessed I'm a Spondonner, guess if you're close, and restoring a beautiful looking classic merc,. you might well be in Ockbrook

I'll get your list printed off and get a basic selection sorted in readiness.
