P00DLE
22nd Apr 2005, 23:38
im sure he didnt mean it like that heysham is a lovely place the problem is the fact that to get there you have to go through this place called lancaster :)

Pete never heard of that campsite but seeing the website i think i know where you are and it just happens to be slap bang in the middle of some of the best lanes this little island has to offer.

B10?
I assume you mean the main course?
we dont bother with road numbers over here. there are quite a few good none damaging lanes in that area and some awesome lanes just of the mountain road but some of them may be a little extreme for you. I dont know what sort of experience you have WEEDY what do you think to sending him up the st lukes church run to the top of druidale, or druidale down to sulby glen

most of the lanes in that area though the biggest risk is a mild case of gorse rash.

my point exactly cant send you down my favourite few lane because they have a habit of breaking things. but there is some awesome scenic runs that wont break anything.

Love to try some of these lanes, can you send details. And next time i am over i will give you a shout. Only reason i ask we have family from there and my wife's from IOM, and we have a holiday house in Foxdale (Villiage House).

P00DLE
2nd May 2005, 21:20
there is a lot of good lanes im not sure how well you know the island so i think it would be easier to show you on a map next time you are over. I have the huge iom map with most of the lanes ive travelled noted on it. Suitability depends on the time of year and how much you dislike gorse bushes. For a bit of fun you cant beat a couple of hours running round the foxdale mines reasonably safe but some fairly challenging sections.

3rd May 2005, 18:54
Yes, they are just down the road from me, and i have already been playing there. But yes i will give you a email next time i am over, coz the wife just potters around the house and visits family. I normaly look for things to do with my days so i look forward to it.

yes it makes a lot of money but i dont think it will last much longer i think after the 100 years which i believe is 2007 it will stop, there are strong rumours to this effect as the insurance / logistics etc is extremely expensive. motorsport governing bodies and the european union are trying to stick thier noses in as well the danger brings a bad reputation for motorsport and the authorities dont like that.

Chris, we got down to to the gate where you have to take a sudden left after exiting it,(not too far from the church, maybe a gate or too away)things after there got a little sticky,so we turned around and headed back of up the mountain track from where we came, nearly made it tho to be honest we couldnt afford to get proper stuck as we had to arrange to meet peeps down by the ferry terminal :D

good choice it is very easy to get stuck on the last section you were about 5 - 600 yds from the end but that is the worst section we usually go the other way.

Yep the department of transport have been resurfacing the tracks and that pothole wasnt the worst on the lane at the time it was nearly 20ft long bout 6inches under a vehicle width right in the middle of the trail and was at 1 point 3 foot deep took 2 attempts to get passed using the door as a slider.
