View Full Version : Any Closures/TRO's in the Machynlleth Area?

I'm probably going laning a little farther afield than I normally travel, in a week's time. I'm going to be doing a recce of the lanes inthe Machynlleth area to check their condition and location etc, with a view to going back joint-leading a small party from the North Wales Land Rover Club.

Does anyone have any good recommendations in that neck of the woods, or does anyone know of no-go or TRO lanes I should avoid? Thanks.

The lane that goes up tp the Bearded Lake in the Tywyn/Aberdovey area has a TRO smack in the middle of it, where they're trying to drain a bog that's been there for years. Do the usual and check with the Councils first. I know they've had trouble with 'foreigners' in recent years, and they tend to take offence!

Hi Hoodoo, yes I intend to contact the councils, I was just curious in case any forum users had news of any definite no-go's.

Monk Trod sn 899719 to sn 795679 has a permanent Tro in place, also The track north of the Claerwen reservoir sn 819672 (claerwen farm)also has a Tro in place..
Tho they maybe abit out of your area.....
There is some good lanes around by nant-y-moch reservoir, its just a case linking them all together, and as you say contact the local council to be sure on status .

Have fun.... :D

Thanks for the info, guys, I'm going to contact the Powys and Ceredigion RoW people to make sure I stay legal. I'll let you know what they say.

After a week of trying to contact them I still haven't actually spoken to anyone. I get through to the receptionist, they transfer me to the department or to the person's phone and I either get ringing with no reply or an answer machine and they never return my call! I'm supposed to be going on Sunday so time is running out

Send them an email at least that way you can prove you have been responsible in asking for information on TRO's etc. ;)

A friend of mine went to the Ceridigion Offices a while back, to keep an appointment with the RoW Officer. When he got to the office, he was told that the person wasn't present. So he turned to the man at a nearby desk and asked him how come he was sitting at that desk when he'd just been told he wasn't in the office? He recognised him from a previous meeting, but it says something about attitudes!
