Pete,

Used to live a couple of miles away from Hayle Towans in St Ives Bay. The site I'm sur is called Riviera Towans. It's the opposite side of the bay from St Ives and you are surrounded by sand dunes. The best part about is that you're not swamped with millions of tourists!! The facilities on the site are/were good. A few year ago I tested out a trailer tent there. The location is pretty central for St Ives, Penzance, Lands End, Helston (Flambards theme Park) and the Lizard. If you have kids it's an ideal location.

Right next to the sea Pete. Famous for it's 3 miles of golden sands. Body boarding it good there too.

after loads of looking a sites in the hayle Area,it looks like we have decided to stay Here (http://www.gwithianfarm.co.uk/).

A lot of the other sites we looked at seamed too comercialized, and rarther expensive, there was one that even charged you 2 quid a night for your car

Hmmmm :D

Pete,

Know the location well and it's only half a mile from the other place on the same road. Hope the weather is kind to you.

£2 for a car!!!! It's so annoying how the locals take the p*ss out of tourists. The worst is at the height of tyhe season and the farmers open their fields for parking and charge some ridiculous amount. But people actually pay these ridiculous amounts!!!!

Hope you have a great time Pete.

We're going to be off down that way for our Summer holiday as well, and we're also in the middle of deciding which site to stay on. Personally I'd prefer a nice quiet site in a nice relaxing location, but we've got the kids to think about so I decided that we'd go somewhere primarily aimed at the kids for the first week, and then somewhere else a bit quiter for the second week. I think I'm going to end up at Lands End for the second week but I'm still hunting around for somewhere to go for the first. That site you're all mentioning might be worth a look...

Brian,we got kids,so we looked at a few in the area, including this site...

http://www.stivesbay.co.uk/ to much like a Hi De Hi camp for us..
Each to there own a suppose ;)

It was a toss up in the end between These too sites ... http://www.atlanticcoast-caravanpark.co.uk/ & http://www.gwithianfarm.co.uk/campsite.htm

The second one won it for us as we have read some good reviews on it,and seems a fairly quiet site, And it wasnt too far way from the beach(walking distance) and the pub is across the road

We usually go to Bude, but decided to go a little futher south this time....

Ps sites are already taking bookings,we have paid our deposit already...

We have been to this site now 3 times,
http://www.dolphinholidays.co.uk/html/sandymouth/sandymouth_welcome_frameset.htm
its a little commercial,ie,small club house, indoor pool for the kids is good if the weather no so clever..

The camping part of the site is nowhere near the club house,so that is good,
Free showers, ;) Good toilet/shower block,it was kept clean at all times..
As far as im aware, all pitches had hook up,we certainly did..

The site is in a good location for the beach(sandymouth bay),as its only a 10/15 min walk(you can drive to the NT car park, but they charge you 2 pound to park),the beach is good for surfing/body boarding,Life gaurds are present in the summer months,so its safe beach for the kids. :)
Ill try and dig out some pics of the camp..
Checkout the attachment...for location ..

Also here is a few links to other sites we viewed in the area...
