This is a section of the forum to allow you to tell us all about your trails, camping trips, find other forum members in your region, or anything else specific to your country.

So this is the place I'm banned to. No way!:D
If I want to I can frequent a Dutch LR-forum and do that in my own language too, so there must be another reason why I'm boring you Scots and Brits with my crap.
Something to think over?:)
Tony.
Tony, i think your missing our badly expliained plans. The idea of the regional sections is not to dilute the threads from the other sections or indeed an area for you to chat in your own language, they are in place with thoughts of them becoming reference sections for the respective countries. I would love to know of campsites, off-road routes in Holland, as i would for The other sections. Bringing them in to their various regions will help us build a database and our own "holiday" info centre as it were.

Maybe he is worried that if he tells us about how good the off roading is over in Holland, we will all be turning up on his door step.. :)

Indeed I guessed the purpose had to be something like that but it was my first thought coming up and wanted to hear it from you admins :D
I'm afraid there won't be so much input about greenlaning in Holland because there isn't so much to show in this overcrowded little country, in fact it is "not done" to leave the tarmac :(
There is more to expect in the Belgian Ardennes, several nice tracks can be driven. And they have better beer ;)
But let there be no doubt: You all are most welcome!!!
Tony.
PS: The missus and myself are planning to come to Scotland in june, DFDS seaways (IJmuiden-New Castle) have six days roundtrips in three different hotels through Scotland, all some 150 mls away from eachother so you stay in every hotel for two nights. One day on the road, one day for looking around.
We planned this last year aswell but could not make it. Looking forward to it!

Well, let us know when it happens, sure the peeps in the scots section would give some ideas of places to visit etc.. or even to share a drink or two.. :)
"The missus and myself are planning to come to Scotland in june"....
Yes Ferryman, a visit to Scotland is great but:
-Don't expect the really offroad lanes (mud and water) like the Ardens.
-Don't be surprised on high prices (175% ref to EUR)
We (1car) did a 15 days (5000km) roundtrip in july 2004 in Highlands and Western Islands (Youth Hostels and B&B) in our discovery, looking for smallest roads, passing hundreds of cadle grids into prairies and mountains, al this in sunny and dry weather.
More information on demand (dutsch)...

JosM, thanks for the reply.
Yes we know Britain is quite expensive for us 'mainlanders' but for some years it is pulling our attention.
All our past vacations we were heading for the sun (preferrably by car) but we feel we just have to go once. Not in the least because of the stories of very friendly people(:p ) and all those endless views of breathtaking sceneries.
As for greenlaning or offroading: I have to keep it all in one piece you know.:D
We'll keep you all informed.
Tony.

Hello everybody,
this as a start as newbie, specially on this part of the forum!!
I find already some "brothers in arm " as I'am also Dutch.
England for vacation is for me , on this moment no issue, to expensive with 110 V8 with caravan.
So my planning is to go to France.
Combination of greenlaning/ visiting 4x4 terrains and ofcourse relaxing!;)
Well, greenlaning in Holland is almost banned everywhere. Well one spot was unkown to me, Lighting90 give us the tip to go to Purmerend:D near the frontdoor of The Ferryman..............
Near Rotterdam were I live you have in harbour part of it a nice place to play with your Land Rover.
In the south, near Eindhoven, you have the possibility for some greenlaning as well.
Okay, France, I visited some terrains:
Circuit du Ravin, location Hesdin, one our drive from the France/Belgium border:
approx. 50 hectare playing ground. Very tricky when wet!! All difficulties.
with "camping ground"
Domaine de Bellevarde, location Val d'Isère. Marvelous terrain from approx. 220 hectare, altitude from 1800 up to 2500 mtr. In the Alps. Even in the mid summer you may need a wintercoat because of the snow. When you go there in august there will be the Salon du 4x4 de Val d'Isère organised by the Club des Aigles ( Club Of The Eagles) In the winter it is here playing ground for the skiers. A little camping site is in the village.
Belgium:
Chateau de Cherimont, Sclayn.
Located in the North-East part of Belgiuim, approx. 40 hectare, In the woods, through the water, hill climbing, mudsections.
Good to visite and combine it withe the wonderfull surroundings of the Ardennes.
After my summer hollidays I'll give you further informations.
:D
