This is a section of the forum to allow you to tell us all about your trails, camping trips, find other forum members in your region, or anything else specific to your country.

Unfortunately evrything in the B.C. is under a good blanket of white and most of the roads in my area are just a sheet of ice.

So no off roading fun then, just tow duties to pull all those car drivers back on the road again..

I for one hope to be posting in this section sometime soon!

Just getting to work can be off roading fun I guess. It's snowing right now and I have to drive into town soon. I do love the 110 in the snow, it's stable in the high winds we've been gettiing and traction has been good. Though I think with the amount of ice we've seen this year I might get some studded snow tires to use, instead of my BFG All terrainers.

I'm lucky, I live north of Whistler and all the putzes with summer tires go south. So I haven't seen too many vehicles in the ditches. It's been colder than normal lately (-20's Celcius) so more unprepared vehicles have been breaking down but most of the drivers on this stretch of highway are used to snow being on the road.

Hey Swag, how's it going? How are your plans for coming back going.

The fool I am! Snowed the most since the storm of 96 and I left my nice snowy home and headed for Vancouver for a club outing. We went looking for snow to get stuck in. Found it at the top of a mountain up the Fraser Valley near Chilliwack. Still less snow at the end of the road than at home on my driveway. Had a great time with the club and friends though. ww.roverlanders.bc.ca (http://www.roverlanders.bc.ca) Made a whole weekend of it, Founder's Day get together and AGM Saturday, overnight with friends and then the "Snowflake Chase" on Sunday. I'm guessing 50 Land Rovers at the indoor show, Series 1 through to LR3 but no Freelanders, 101's or FC's and 11 Land Rovers for the Sunday drive.

Snow at home has been evaporating all week, started at about 50 cm on Saturday morning now down to 30 or less but we are supposed to get some tonight. How much snow "north of Whistler" (Pemberton?) Lots of power outages in our area (southern Vancouver Isalnd), ours was out about 15 hours but many were out 2 or 3 days.

I couldn't make it to Founders Day because of work.

We didn't get the huge dump that the Lower Mainland got, just flurries that added up to 10cm on top of the 40+ we already had. What we got instead was the arctic outflows, double digit negatives and anywhere from 30-60 Km/h winds. Everything is frozen solid and the side roads are sheets of ice.

The clear sky's have made for some spectacular days skiing if you have the right gear to stay warm and sharp edges.

Well, mother nature has a real sense of humor. Instead of being freezing it has decided to become warm and **** down rain for the last 3 days. This has put us into a flood warning (not that anyone is paying attention).

So now instead of watching out for ice on the roads we have to be careful of hydro-planing. It sounded funny when the radio warned of a hydro-planing hazard on the highways but it was for real.

The 110 is again proving it's worth as we had to drive through 2 feet of water on a side street to get home.

Just stumbled across this section, what a good idea. When Swag finally gets out here then there should be some input from the prairies. We might even get out to meet you BC boys, (if of course I ever get my engine back together :D ).
As to the white stuff, a Chinook has blown in and melted almost all of it. The last couple of weeks has been in the minus twenties but now its up in the plus's, go figure!

I was going to take a picture of me having some fun tonight but I didn't want the camera to get wet. The vacuum was blowing water all over as I sucked up the seepage from my basement floor. Almost 3 inches of rain in 12 hours last night and it hasn't let up all day. I won't be able to keep up to the seepage because I will have to go to sleep sometime tonight but most of the stuff that might get water damage is picked up and the water can't get over about an inch deep before it runs out the door. It might be good for pictures around the valley tomorrow as the river is at a ten-year high, tides are high and it is still raining hard. Some locals should be on the national news tomorrow with flooding and evacuations.

Last weekend My oldest son and I got out for a bit of a drive on our favorite mountain. We got farther up than any of the other trucks that had tried before us but a Quad got about 60-100 feet farther down the road than we did. Snow was in good shape with very little crust on top. It was about 16" deep and just a little too tough to break trail. Even with open diff's, when we got stuck, all four would spin. Back up a few feet then go ahead 5 or 6 more before being stopped again.

Hi guys,

As some of you may already know me & the wife have been planning to applying to emigrate to Canada.

Well, the time has come to put our application in to CHC, London. It's sitting on the dinning room table now, ready for a final check before it's posted in the morning. It's taken us 3 months to get all the info together and hopefully we'll be BC bound within the next 24mths... why does it take so long :(

I've joined http://www.roverlanders.bc.ca/ and were planning on a 2/3 week trip to check out Revelstoke, Kamloops and the surrounding area in early June. Revelstoke is at the top of our list at present but we are flexible.

Maybe we could meet up with a few forum members when were over and I'll post dates once were a bit closer to the time.

BTW, will be in Banff from 19/2 - 26/2, anyone around for some boarding (skiing) at Sunshine or Louise ?

Cheers,

Good for you Andy mate. Swag might be over here by June and my Rover should be back together. I'll have some holidays to use up so might try and persuade the wife to take a road trip. As for Banff in Feb I think I'm going to be in Ottawa, shame as I love Sunshine.

Cheers,
Stu

Just putting my application together at the moment, and hope to submit it next month.
Andy, am I right in understanding that it is £550 each for the application then about the same again for the permanent residency down the line? Are you going in as a skilled worker?
