Try sending them an email to enquire about their older models. I have found some British companies to be extremely helpful, and some like Superwinch went out of their way to help me ... they even sent me a manual of an obsolete Fairey drum winch completely free of charge!

Good idea Buzz...
Btw... Hi there Oilburner... Maltese chap here too.
Great to see the maltese community growing here too. A quality forum we must admit.
Buzz.. i wont take your time. Any idea of a decent place to buy a powerwash unit? Denn is going to grab one from Homemate, Lm50. If you`ve seen some around just let us know. Cheers.
Finally.. a decent place to grab that Relay switch we had talked about? This sat i`ll get down to it. Double Cheers. ;)
There are a few shops you can find these relays from, There is one near Blata bajda, opposite the big M.U.S.E.U.M HQ they have all sorts, another is called 'highway' if I'm not mistaken, this is the same road as the original entrance to SMART supermarket, before the bank there, at Lija not far from the Pasta factory there. Another is in Msida valley road I think its called just before Panta lesco and before the upholsterer "Abela" its a small shop but the realy is a fairly common item so auto electrical shops will all have them.
As for a power wash, the Lm50 sunds an ok price but all I can suggest is to look around and compare prices. There is also a place in Burrmarad worth checking out, you know where that lone fuel pump is there, well they sell industrial stuff, Oh and also (I forget their names) there is another place in Burmarrad as you come into it, on the left, they sell tractors, water pumps and all sorts of bits and pieces related. I would pay them a visit I'm sure they have power washers that you could buy and let me use,..... :p
its never stopped me and owen
I know what you mean SWB Tigger but this way all the Maltese lot can come straight here to converse and deviate or ask maltese related stuff, not that we're shunning everyone just this is a good "meeting place" for us...... ;)

Hi guys,
What is the address of the website of the new club to be !!
Hows things OLO, Nighthawk, dborg and buzz ???? long time no see, and offcourse Hello to all the new ones whom I have not met yet face to face as they say. :D
www.mlrac.org there you go 9H1AA as requested, but remember its still under construction. ;)
hey niner hotel :p long time no see, all good here, although engine is worrying me (some rattles here and there and valves went wrong again, asked this guy loqqu at blitz and he said that the valve timing isn't off coz of the timing belt and that got me worried). otherwise am ok :)
wot bout u? haven't seen u around in a while, we helping a disco :p hope to see u soon!
Hi Guys,
How about on the website instead of "Malta Adventure club" then the landrover Logo, why not "Malta 'Landrover logo' Adventure club".
Don't know who is designing it but just a suggestion.
check out http://www.mlrac.org/Landy21.jpg and http://www.mlrac.org/landy.jpg and see which is the best :)
i'll forward the comments to the designer :) he's currently loaded with work but is doin some stuff here and there

Hi Olo,
try not to worry too much about your landy ..............I know its difficult or practically impossible, its always like this with landys if you know what I mean, its part of the fun :D
re the title / logo for the club, I agree 100% with BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ,
the name should be Malta LandRover Adventure Club, and NOT simply Malta Adventure Club ! one can always replace the LandRover 'wording' by the LandRover badge ?
I personally think that the first logo would be just great simply by inserting the LandRover badge between Malta and Adventure Club.
anyways .... this is just my view and may be I am completely in the wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope not though.
cu all very soon
I also like them both but I prefere the first one.
I like the Idea of the Maltese cross, all that I would change is the position of the words and the Landrover Badge..
Morning Buzz,
just a small note to thank you once again for helping me in jump starting my ill fated DISCO yesterday morning, I am off to the garage to sort things out this morning, will let you know later on. :(
thanks again
No worries my friend, you are more than welcome, anytime.

Well i was involved in a towing experience yesterday. Insomma.. towing xejn.
Just imagine the scene...my Defender.. pulling my brother`s Mini Minor... hehe. I couldnt even see him through the mirrors. The damm thing didnt want to start on a couple of hill throws... so we hooked it up on the landy.... took him for a ride and it started.
No jump leads.. so we couldnt try those. Was a laugh.
You don't realy need heavy jump leads, you can simply use ordinary household wire, for house wiring but double it up. connect simply by peeling back the insulation and twisting the ends aroung the terminals as you would jump leads, IE positive to positive and negative to negative, start the "donor" car and you will have to run the engine for a good 10-15minutes. You will in effect just be using the Alternator of the donor car to charge up the "dead" battery. Usually this will be enough to start up the car.
Well this is what I did twice this weekend to my other car and with 9H1AA's Disco, this of course being that the batteries where not dead, as in knackered for good.
Even when using jump leads it is always a good idea to let the engine run for a few minute before attempting starting as the clips of the jump leads are not very efficient in making contact on the battery terminals for the heavy current required for starting the engine.

Towing Daniel to the nearest petrol station when he ran out of diesel!
I think he felt his landy more powerful while I was towing him :D

Le le... anzi... i take my cap off in respect ;) We`ve got a lot to learn from the guy... always take my posts with pinch of salt.
Mela of course I know there was no harm meant, I'm sure Daniel is used to getting his leg pulled plus it's good inspiration for him to put a real engine under his bonnet, at least it will help save us, with proper engines, having to keep in low gear, wasting fuel for him to keep up!!! :D
been dying for today!!!!!!!!
here it is finally!!! a day full of floods :D
everyday people boast about how fast they go, today i boast about what i can go through :D people are gonna hate me, seein me grinning whilst i drive relax by them whilst they stuck :p
Thats not very nice Olo, I would be pleased to give a hand, you could offer to tow them out and feel even better for the experience!
Whats more they can get a closer look at a real vehicle that isn't afraid of a little water. ;)

I've also started to get used to having my whole Landrover pulled, not just my leg!!! I can't imagine my landy with a TDi, that would make me think twice about getting married :D !!!
Mentioning this, and what Nighthawk said, I want to inform you that loads of petrol stations in Malta are selling very bad diesel. I noticed that going up some hills I used to go up on 3rd gear easily but recently 2nd gear almost struggled up the same hills. I checked everything - tyre air pressure, binding brakes, stuck alternator, removing extra weight, keeping vents and windows closed, well practically everything. I started to think it was a cracked piston crown which was causing this loss of power, due to the timing belt story. Until last Sunday, when Nighthawk towed me to a petrol station at Mellieha (I wondered how my landy could accelerate faster without any diesel :p ). From then on my engine sprung back to life! On Sunday, with the Landy fully loaded with the bikers things I nearly went up most hills on 4th gear - back to how the engine should be! Idling is also smoother. To confirm I went to the station were a friend works (Sonny) as I trust him, and the engine is as good as ever, well for a 2.5 NA anyway!!!
Insomma guys, I must thank the lot of you for the respect. Can't name anyone as everyone has shown it in some way or another - THANKS!!
I also excuse myself here for not being able to keep up with your posts on these fabulous forums, but loads of things are happening in my life and am trying to keep everything in the right direction.
I am also busy with preps for the AFM Training camp next week, then it's December's event, then ...................and it goes on............!!!!!!!!
9H1AA, I am glad you're back in, I've been bosting with your attendance on our first ever greenlaning event together - not much people do that in a mint Disco like yours!! I love to see some 'impressed' people with it!!
Another good news is that I have the feeling that the LR3 will soon show up in Malta, and guess what................................I'll be trying to convince Daniel (Muscat Motors Sales Manager) to come to Gozo with one!!
Anyway, that's all for now. I'm looking forward to meeting you all tonight. I might be there at 8.30pm instead of 8 as I have some part-time work to do with my father before!!
It shows how much I've been missing from here, this is not a post, this is a composition......................

Welcome back buzz.. had a couple of rainy nights eh? You surely didnt enjoy heavy rain and winds.
Lets hope we dont get that weather for our planned event. We make sure that the Gozo Channel works that weekend.. cause they arent crossing in this wind.
Btw peeps.... thanks to Dennis, my bro and my dad... i`ve got my landy on the road again.. Fully finished.. and then Sunday my drivers lock isnt working well. Grr... but i can leave it permanently locked so im only slightly inconvenienced. Also the lock at the back is giving me a hard time... btw Denn.. stuck a b*atch of a padlock now.
Need to buy that relay for the foglights... i will try sneak out of work today or do it tomorrow. Maybe Fabian in Gzira would have... close and convenient. Next on the shopping list are some LED lights which im going to use to replace the yellow centre light. I`ll try get one from Ultraleds.co.uk as they said mailing to Malta is no problem.
Hi Dynamited,
Not sure Fabian will have automotive relays etc, but its worth trying. Can't you call them first?

Welcome back soldiers!
Nev, you could also you could try Maplin for the relay. And for a ton of other really tempting gadgets. I better not get anywhere near that place... it might be as addictive as homemate heheh :D
Nev, if you're getting those LEDs for the interior lights get me a couple please and I'll pay you. I'd love to change the horrible yellow light for a nice white LED light.
Btw... Thanks to Joseph, "Operation Onboard Air" moved a step forward. Got the damn pulley off the shaft and gave the bearings and oil seals a bit of a peek. They look like new so we closed the thing up again. Btw buzz. The thing had no oil at all. Zilch. Completely dry  . I wonder if Ciapella or Tecnoplus or whoever worked on it emptied it after removing it from your V8. Dunno how it would last being used for any length of time without oil. Anyway. Pulley machining time now! Gotta get in touch with the engineering boys :D
Oh yes and btw... any day is fine for me to meet this week.

For tomorrows meeting... are we going to make it same place? Not that i dont like the place, but we could find a nice cosy place which serves decent pints with good prices.
There is a 'old looking pub' at quisisana...just infront of the swings. Denn.. is it any good? Looks decent. I see a couple of tourists in there, so its not too expencive i`d say.
Denn.. up for a pint over there tonight and we check it out? about 9?
So it's tomorrow?

Ok then we'll meet tomorrow at 8:00pm so we can have a nice long laughing session like last time. About the place, I dunno about that place Nev. Never went there to be honest lol. But we can meet there. Should be easy to park around the seafront near my house on a thursday night.
We could also go to the place near the printing press. I liked the beer there. Or is that too quiet for us noisy *******s? :D (or do we risk getting killed by falling window sills? :D)
Not today nev, I have to paint my compressor bright yellow lol :D

Just asking ... anyone has / can have a CB radio for the december event ? Basically i`ve got a Danita CB, dash mountable with a magnetic antenna base... which we had once used when we went overland. If anyone else has a handheld or something we could use it for long range communication.
I`ve also got 2 handsets, old and stuff, but they work on a fixed channel on the CB band, and quite longrange too. I just need to solder new battery holders and they should work.
We could make a quick test and like that we have 3 ( in total ) radio equipped. Im asking so that if you`ve got others handy.. can bring them along. These are only for us... not for the participants as that would cause confusion.

It is always busy :) you'll feel annoyed when you won't have anything to do...
But that will rarely happen since you have a landy. Having replaced some oil seals from the axels, it made me happy not leaking oil for a week until the crankshaft oil seal decided to call it a day and started spilling oil at an unaffordable rate :)

Hey Guys!
Anyone interested in an end of year BBQ, can coincide with a farewell for Daniel, (hey it doesn't mean you'll be getting fed Dan) just a get together and an excuse to drink beer!!
Suggestions are for this week, either Friday evening or Saturday some time, probably evening too.

Of course no event can be without the as-yet-unbeaten Defender also doubling up as the official recovery vehicle to pull everyone else out :D
Btw, I've just reached ground zero in my guinea pig transfer case. Tons of tiny little gears, bolts, washers, shafts, bearings, nuts, studs, springs running all over the place I hope I lost nothing! Now it's reassembling time . Pity I won't be able to test it on the 29th because it won't be ready. Too expensive to spend so much on it at one go (Lm180 to get those q-gears alone! ). Need to "dilute" the costs over a couple of months or so, plus bearings, gaskets, o-rings, cross drilled input gear to keep the mainshaft happy (got this one), and all the white spirit for cleaning the damn thing! :D.
George... the disco looks good to me... I'm just thinking a bit about that bullbar. Is that bar part of the bullbar? The one across the front of the steering guard. Doesn't that render the steering guard redundant?
