Over on mud-club the outcome of this question was overwhelmingly 'Elddis'.

What's the score on here?

Here's mine for starters.

It's a big one (ooer-missus!)
A good few feet longer than the Discovery

Hope you get stuck behind one going up hill doing 20mph. It won't be on the back of a Disco as they don't go that slow up hill.

I'd say that picutre is from the late sixties. I remember when we used to go caravanning that load of families had Sprite Alpines and Sprite Majors. Oh yeah, and Lyntons.

The caravans I always liked were the Carlight and Safari, both are a bit of a rich retired couples' caravan I think.

Si,

I still think the carlights look great today, a slight retro feel without looking too old. Have you seen the new Tab XL? Same teardrop shape as the Tab but a bit bigger with a twin axel realy cool looking. We would have bought one but the layout is wrong for us.

BTM,

Do you use any kind of mover with your van?

No. I've never needed one.
It's in storage, & I've got to the point where if I take it out, I can mark the tyre positions (with stones/sticks) & then reverse to within about 2inches first time.

I've also got 'Jack-Mates' on the front, with the tow-ball adaptor (not needed it yet, but might on a 'tight site', as it's a big caravan.
(as seen in pictures at top of page)

We've got a Swift Challenger 490SE, and the last smaller 'minuette' was a Swift too.

Do seem to notice more Swifts than anything else on sites too, or is that just because you notice ones the same as yours ? like when you buy a new car and suddenly notice everyone has one !

There are a lot of Swifts around. At the end of the day we prefered the Sterling Eccles, just on minor details. The wood was slightly lighter and the soft furnishings were slightly more our taste. Same caravan body as the Challenger though!

We have a 2001 Bailey Senator. Which we use all year round, for our main holidays and on rallies with a family based club. The rallies normally held in the New Forest. We have actually just returned from Sandy Balls, bit wet and blowy though!

Swift Challenger 590 5 berth, twin axle. It's a monster! I think the LOA is 24 feet! The 110 stuggles on some hills due to it's weight, but I get there in the end. :p
