Just found out the wifes car has no breakdown cover, it has run out on the Peugeot 12 months warranty.
The disco is through Land Rover, so I dont know who to go for to cover her car any ideas?

check out their website, i think it is in conjunction with green flag but seemed a great deal, the only prob was my caravans about 20' and there is a restriction on vehicle length.

I'm with the RAC myself but I don't know if they are any good as I have yet to have the misfortune to use them:yay:

Reading the above paragraph I'm sure fate will make sure I sample the RAC very soon:Cross:

I was with Green Flag many moons ago when they were called National Breakdown but they covered the Landy and charged me more 'cos of it's age, RAC cover me as a person and don't give a damn what I drive.

It would be interesting to see what happens when I phone them up from a green laning incident:Countdown

cheers, Tim

I've been with both. The AA & RAC now operate the 5 strikes and your out rule, I fell out with the AA when our car broke down I had to get to work and left the wife with the car, the AA refused to come out because I wasn't with the vehicle, I fell out with the RAC when they could not find me stranded on a Motorway hard shoulder took 3 hours and many phone calls. Now I just phone a friend!

Is that per year? In which case I think that is a fair policy.

Sorry for being my usual luddite self but I am a bit racked off with the Wife's J reg Rover 200. The Haynes comic tells you how to check the ignition timing but if it need adjusting you have to go the local dealership (apparently) to get the job done!!

Oh well she is getting a fancy Vauxhall Astra soon - YIPPEE - my spanners won't fit anything like that:yay

Euro - spanners required:hahaha:

cheers, Tim

Fell out with AA and National breakdown in the past, only used each of them once and they were useless - AA took so long to get my wife home from 10 miles away that I could have left work, picked up a trailer, loaded up, got home, dropped off trailer and got back to work quicker ! (and cheaper !)

National breakdown sent a local garage from the wrong way, who didn't bring the part I told them was broken (radiator hose, pretty obvious !) then towed us to their garage (which we passed 20 miles ago) then decided they couldn't fix it as the gasket could have blown - despite me telling him I didn't overheat it. Then they eventually loaded us up and relayed us home something like 6 hours after we called them - I swear some gaffer and plenty of water and we could have limped back quicker than that still. Of course when I got a new hose and fitted it the day after the car was fine.

RAC did a great job when I blew the IRD over christmas, turned up with a real patrol van in 35 mins, checked it and called the flatbed to get me home. Then we were loaded and gone in just over an hour from the first call. Top job.

I'm with the AA as it covers me on any vehicle. Called them out for the first time last week when the Landy died on me in the rain. Quoted 30 minutes arrival time and they were with me in 25. Sorted the problem out within about 15 minutes and I was on my way again. Very happy! I'd got a presentation to go to, so I was a bit smart to be digging around under the bonnet!!!

Had LR Assistance on the Disco before it went, but never had to call them out, so can't comment. I've got VW assistance on the Passat, and hopefully won't have to use it!

I pay for AA, the other's free with the car.

I used to be with Green Flag, but moved when they sent through an amendment to the rules which said they'd charge for each part hour after the first 30 minutes at the roadside.

Hopefully it's all just peace of mind!!!

Cheers

When we had the 110 it had a love affair with a flatbed kindly provided by National Breakdown, they where always on time and there cabs where very comfortable. We currently have Europassist which I bought as part of my insurance for £35. It gives me full UK and Europe cover with home start et cetera. We have so had to use them once for the 109, and they where prompt and arrived with a flat bed!

Me and the Missus have personal cover, even if we are passengers in someone elses car we are covered for full recovery to home or destination. Used them once ..20 minutes response time :)

I've got Rac - the joint one with Tim but also one with my insurance (Norwich Union) and also Network Q with the new car which should get next week. Which one is best?
My insurance is £30 cheaper if I have the breakdown option with it for some reason.

I've had AA cover for, well a long time, looking back I have called them out for other peeps vehics more than mine,
once even got a Merc van recovered from Glasgow to Sheffield when the timing belt shredded its self, for nothing,,and what did my gaffa say when I got his van back and saved him £xxx, " how the f**k did you bust it"?

obvermushly nowt to do with it never having a service..

That was one of the reasons I sat up my own buisness..

The RAC have always been good for me. Recovered me on more occasions than I care to remember (while in company vehicles, not the discovery). Give them a clue what's up in the call and not probs. I bust a prop shaft spider on an Iveco daily, called them within 45mins a flat bed turned up to take the van back to Edinburgh

Remeber also if you are a member of a Motor Sports Assoc club you get a membership discount (5% i think)
