Where are we going to drive if we loose the lanes?
Will it be private run routes or off road centres, will country estates wanting to make money, be allowed to put in routes over their land and charge for use.
Or do we give in and sell the Landy.

I live in that world. It's called Scotland. (Home of the free?) :snarl:

and the good. as a relletive new comer to off roading (5 years). and a former shooter i have found the people taking away our freedoms fight us so well because they have nothing to lose (if they lose this one they will dust them selves down and look for another just cause)
it is time we all stuck together( and i mean all drivers not just off roaders)and stopped the do-gooders taking our freedom and the government using motorists as a money pit.

All we can do is keep fighting for our freedom.

Road Tax, Petrol Tax, VAT, Insurance Tax, now they are charging us to use roads, and we seem to sit back and bloody take it!

What is the legal position about driving on a lane in Scotland, ive got a mate who lives a few miles down one via somebody else, he says its OK because i have a valid reason and destination to use it.
Not been a native of this fair land for too long i have never been to sure about venturing up a track and it's legalities.

As long as you're friendly and don't do any damage - you most likely won't have any problems from experience. :yay:
All they can do is tell you to ****** off! :p

FWIW and at the risk of stating the bleeding obvious all I'd add to that is that you have a better chance of a friendly reception if you ask beforehand.
There's an article on the SLROC website which has some guidelines:

Also, I think that motorised vehicles are specifically excluded from the new access laws which come into force soon (maybe even this week?). Seems that you can now walk, cycle, rollerskate, rollerblade, canoe, kayak, ride a horse and whatnot wherever you like (without causing damage of course) but you can't take a 4x4 anywhere (even if you don't cause any damage)

Cheers, should hopefully get some more pics like that next week. :yay:
I've just got hold of a snow plough for the Landie so I'm hoping to get the mounting bracket made up in time for the snow. I know it won't be much use in the deeper stuff - the eight wheel drive council plough had to be rescued by a snow blower last time - but it should cope with the smaller drifts.
Regards
Jamie
