Government proposals to charge lorries for using the UK’s roads should mean a fairer deal for domestic road freight operators, but it must be cost neutral, warns the Freight Transport Association.

Sales of winter tyres have rocketed by 50 per cent for one manufacturer in the UK, despite the British winter failing to live up to some dreadful weather forecasts.
Michelin’s cold weather tyre sales grew to around 500,000 sales at the end of 2011; twice as many as in 2010 and three or four times better than in 2009, according to the tyre-maker.
